Amanda
K. Thomas, MS, RD, LD/N earned her bachelor’s
and master’s degrees in Dietetics, and Food and
Nutrition Science from the Florida State University,
respectively. She is a registered dietitian. She has
worked as a nutrition consultant and clinical
dietitian in a variety of health care settings,
including physician offices, hospitals, dialysis
centers, and long-term care facilities. Her vast
clinical experience has led to a strong interest in
wellness and disease management.
Most recently, Ms. Thomas assisted with the
development of Polk County School Board’s employee
wellness pilot program and disease management
program, ABC’s of Diabetes. As a member of the
wellness team, she developed nutrition and activity
intervention plan(s) for employees according to
health risks identified by screenings. She
coordinated and conducted meetings, educational
classes, and health promotion events. Furthermore
she developed educational classes for the employees’
weight management and disease management programs.
Her professional memberships include: American
Dietetic Association, Sports, Cardiovascular and
Wellness Nutritionists (SCAN) practice group, and
Weight Management Dietetic Practice Group. She has
also received certification as a Group Exercise
Instructor by the Aerobics and Fitness Association
of America (AFAA). Ms. Thomas has also received from
the Commission on Dietetic Registration specialty
Certifications of Training in Adult Weight
Management, and Children/Adolescent Weight
Management. |
